Summers in Texas are no joke, so when I think about my wardrobe, the goal is simple stay cool, feel comfortable, and still look put together. My days are usually filled with being outside at sports, running errands, and squeezing in a brunch or dinner here and there, so I’ve learned to stop buying for “just in case” moments and start building around my real life. For me, that means reaching for pieces that are light, airy, and easy to throw on without overthinking. Flowy dresses, relaxed shorts, and breathable basics that move with me throughout the day.
I’ve also learned that having a go-to formula makes everything easier. Most days I’m rotating between a dress and sneakers, a tank with shorts, or a simple matching set. If I do add layers, they’re always lightweight like an open button-up or a thin cardigan…just enough for indoor air conditioning without adding extra heat. Keeping my color palette neutral helps everything work together, so I can mix and match without trying too hard, which is key when you’re getting dressed quickly and still want to feel confident.
At the end of the day, building a summer wardrobe you’ll actually use comes down to choosing pieces that support your lifestyle, not complicate it. It should feel effortless, functional, and still like you. Especially in this season of life, I want to feel good in what I’m wearing without sacrificing comfort and that’s really what summer style is all about.
